Google Phone to compete Apple iPhone, but not as gPhone. It seems like Google announced this morning that the new mobile OS platform will be called Android. This software is intended to make cell phones cheaper and Web browsing on it much easier. The Company will offer free software to anyone who wants under the terms of an open-source license. Plans are to provide easy access to the Internet via cellphones. USA Today writes that Google partners with Sprint, Samsung, Motorola and Japanese DoCoMo.
