Martina Hingis retires

Swiss Tennis star Martina Hingis is being investigated for a positive drug test (cocaine) at Wimbledon.

Hingis (not ‘Higgins’) said at a press conference in Glattbrugg (Zurich) she would retire this year.

Martina also stated in this press conference:

I would personally be terrified of taking drugs. When I was informed (about the test) I was shocked and appalled.

In 2003 already Hingis announced her retirement from tennis due to her struggles with injuries.

In several interviews, she indicated she wanted to go back to her country and coach full time.
